Introduction to Round 3

If you are following along with the Guiding Thoughts I provide, this introduction is for you (if you are providing your own thoughts, skip down to continue the exercise). We have completed the first 20 days; we are half way there! In this “round”–days 21-30– the format will change slightly, again. In the last round, you “gave the thought” to another by using “you” instead of “I”. In this round, shift to the third-person singular. Instead of saying, for example, “your own Loving Presence” or “your Inner Divine Mind”, the meditation will say, “his own Loving Presence” and “her Inner Divine Mind”.

Corresponding to this language shift, your thoughts will also shift from “you” to “he”, “she” “her”, or “him”. In your imagination during the guiding thoughts, at least two people will be affirming the statement. Either, imagine yourself speaking with another person about the “him” or “her”, or imagine two people talking together about you. Let your own self be the subject of the conversation of two other people, or take on the role of seeing the Truth in another and seeing yourself sharing that in conversation with someone. Try both of these options or come up with your own.

Two notes about this:

First, grammatically the third-person pronoun creates some odd language, mostly when talking about the Self. For example, you will see things like “his Self” which sounds grammatically incorrect (shouldn’t it be “himself?”). The distinction is between the Self and the self: himself refers to an identity that is associated with the physical presence and daily activity of a person; his Self refers to the Self of himself–the self that is associated with Inner Divine Mind and Loving Presence. The language makes sense in this regard, but it just does not sound right, until you become familiar with the distinction.

Second, the Guiding statements alternate between masculine pronouns and feminine pronouns. I encourage you to use the pronouns interchangeably, regardless of the biological identity of the person being talked about. The Self is neither male nor female; or perhaps the Self is both male and female; or perhaps the Self makes no use whatsoever of biological classifications. When thinking about the self– your Self, his Self, her Self–think in terms of both/and/beyond to remind yourself that the “you of You” is more than the physical you.

There is a Perfect Spiritual Idea of Perfect Fulfillment. Her Inner Divine Presence Knows every form, experience, situation, event, circumstance, condition, relationship, and sequence that fulfills her desires. When she is diligent about maintaining her focus of desire on the loving benefit and fulfillment of all sentient beings, Divine Substance–which is the source of Spiritual Idea’s manifestation–flows through her and externalizes in her experience. Divine Presence appears as the perfect fulfillment of every single form, experience, situation, event, circumstance, condition, relationship, and sequence that she could possibly desire.

Today I felt a movement towards assurance. The words “sunk in” in a way they haven’t before. Divine Substance is the Source of all fulfillment, for everyone, everywhere. Divine Substance is the Supply for all of the experiences of fulfillment.

I often wonder, “…well….how?” and today I had a glimpse of understanding; I do not need to know how. Divine Mind knows and has the answer, and is the source and supply of that answer. Perfect fulfillment is there, just waiting.

What’s it waiting for? It’s like a warehouse full of All Good waiting for distribution. Divine Mind is the Source. The Warehouse holds the Substance. Your own Loving Presence is the way the source, as substance is distributed. You supply the world with Divine Mind’s Perfect Spiritual Idea through being your own Loving Presence. All the goods you deliver are perfect for everyone you deliver to, and everyone you encounter is delivering perfect goods to you.

Your job in this distribution metaphor is to maintain your focus on the benefit you bring to others: know that all you deliver is for someone’s good, and deliver only that which you know is good. You know it’s good because it comes through your own Loving Presence, which is Divine Mind’s expression. Ultimately, your own Loving Presence is what moves the goods into the world, or keeps them waiting in the warehouse.

The more you are aware of delivering these goods, the more you become aware of others giving you benefit as well. Your own Loving Presence is the valve that controls the flow of Good out and back to you, and your consciousness of Divine Mind as the Source of All Good brings it into your inner and outer experience.
