We are on round 3! For this round, the pronouns for the Guiding Thoughts change again; we will use the pronoun “we” or “us”, instead of “I” or “you”. When you listen to the Guiding Thoughts (or read them), unite yourself with me, and I will unite myself with you. We are the “we”!
Before you begin each day, take a moment and think about this from Day 08’s Guiding Thought: Love-as-light streams from my heart to your heart! We are connected by Love; we are One in Love. You may even choose to listen to this quickly—it is a thought that will turn your mind to the right attitude for the day’s endeavor.
Spend about 15-20 minutes with the guiding thought, and then let your heart speak through words, pictures, colors, shapes, whatever feels right. I’ve supplied a link below to an audio of me doing the guiding thought–use it if you like to create, while listening to it play on a loop (that’s what I do). Scroll to the bottom for my sharing…
Day 22 Guiding Thought
Today, we decide to give our hearts reign.
Trusting in love, assured with its gentle comfort, we invite our hearts to lead us with joy and peace to joy and peace.
We surrender our minds and wills to our heart’s love.

You can download this and play it in a loop while you allow your heart to speak to you :). I suggest Windows Media Player (I have not tested other players).
It seems, apparently, my cartoonist desired some attention today. Clearly, my cartoonist does not get too much exercise!
There was so much about the Guiding Thought that I wanted to incorporate into a drawing:
- Deciding to let the heart lead
- I pictured one person holding another’s hand, leading…thoughts of a mountain pathway, thoughts of their hearts connected…
- Trust and assurance
- Not too sure how to draw these things so, I considered what colors would represent trust and assurance…
- I thought about doing a parental sort of depiction
- The heart’s gentle comfort
- I pictured a bed! Soft, gentle, safe.
- Leading with joy and peace to joy and peace
- Again I thought of leading-symbols, but different colors to represent joy and peace…and how do you represent WITH…TO???
- Now that I think about it maybe this is what ultimately happened! I just saw this little cartoon person, and thought, “Really…it’s a cartoon day? …But what is s/he going to do? How do I draw all this!?” But I started… and here we are.
…but none of those things written above are what actually came out on paper.
This Journey is so interesting to me; to watch what I think should happen in the picture and what actually happens—the difference between the head directing the action and the heart directing it.
As usual, I just started drawing… I am not really sure why I had the idea of a stick person; sometimes in the past I have done little stick-figure cartoons, so it was not completely out of the blue, but why here? Why now?
I started with just the happy little figure (who is not me, by the way… I get the distinct feeling that this little character is her/his own). Then I knew that there was a “path” s/he was going to follow—I had images of Billy from “The Family Circus” comic strip—he’s the little kid who traipsed ALL over creation, taking the longest route possible to get from point A to point B (picture below). That was the feeling I wanted… a winding, seemingly purposeless route (Bil Keane accomplishes this much better!). Then along the route, I wanted to represent ways to pick up or increase love and to share love.
I feel like the happy little figure at the beginning represents someone who simply approaches life with acceptance, wonder, joy, and finds love along the way. The first place of finding love is certainly unconventional: the love is suspended right before her/him—this is because the approach of wonder, joy, gratitude, and acceptance, brings the love in!
The home, where s/he picks up the second heart-felt like a coming home, or the home representing all of the love people receive with friends and family.
Then s/he continues on the path, whistling a happy little song.
THEN, the little stick person’s wisdom comes out. When s/he meets the angry people, instead of succumbing to the conflict, s/he knows that the love contained within her/him is enough not only to end the conflict but to increase the love itself! How? By sharing it! So that’s what happens, and the love multiplies and s/he leaves the shower of love with even more love.
Maybe this is what happens when we let the heart lead?
