Choose now to expand your consciousness and open your heart to Divine Love’s flow within you. Realize your own Divine Presence. Know God as the Source and Fulfillment of all your good.
I love this Guiding Thought. For inflection, tone, and energy, here is how it reads in my head:
To expand your consciousness!
Open your heart!
To Divine Love’s flow within you!
Your own Divine Presence.
As the Source and Fulfillment of ALL your good!
As children, my brother was a little mischief-maker (maybe he took after me?). He was always active, always surprising, always ready for the next play. I have a photograph of him from this time—just his face—that captures this part of his personality. The photo is static, but it looks like he’s about to jump up and do something silly, or make something happen, or play a prank.
This Guiding Thought reminds me of that. The words are static, but there’s an undercurrent of energy, like there’s something about to happen.
Another thing I love about it is the enthusiastic, directive tone to it. Many times, directive statements come across as orders or commands—Do this! When I perceive a directive statement that way, personally, I feel a little resistant. The rebellious teenager pops up and retorts, “Don’t tell me what to do”.
But in this Guiding Thought, even though it’s written in a directive, my perception of it is more like a trusted friend urging me to try something new that they are certain I will like. For example, the first time I tried sashimi, which was also the first time I tried wasabi, a friend was there saying, “Try it, you’ll like it!” I was a bit dubious and tentative, but I trusted the excitement and anticipation of enjoyment that my friend had for me. Needless to say, ever since then, I have loved sashimi and wasabi.
With this in mind, as I was thinking on the Guiding Thought, I imagined all of you (people who have liked my posts, people who are reading this, people I do not yet know), as my friends who I am encouraging to try this! Do it! Choose Now! Open your heart! Realize! Know!
I hope you enjoy the experience as much as I do. I am waiting with excitement and anticipation!
