Guiding Thought

Gratitude makes all things new! When you are aware of your Source in Love, you see its activity everywhere. It is the Substance of Life itself! You are in the flow and create and expand with Love, in Life!

Sharing

I had a bit of a revelation this morning, though I think it may be the kind of thing that is obvious to many people, it just took me a while to see it.

It has to do with the words, “with Love” in the sentence, “You are in the flow and create and expand with Love, in Life!”

For a long time, I have thought of the words, “with Love” in the sense of I must first develop the love-thing within me, then approach people and situations from that. This would be similar to a musician playing with passion, or an actor acting with visceral strength, or an athlete performing with aggressive drive and focus. In this case the adjectives are qualities (either natural or honed), that the musician, actor, or athlete brings to their performance. That’s how I have thought about Love. I must cultivate it, and then bring it to all I do.

But I saw something new today.

With can also have the sense of doing something with someone (or something). If my friend is going hiking and invites me to come along, I am going hiking with my friend. If my friend and I make plans to go hiking together, we are going hiking with each other.  With, in this sense, feels supportive, cooperative, equal, friendly.

I started thinking about the Guiding Thought using this new sense of “with” and it felt completely different. It felt like…instead of me trying to do things with Love (first sense), Love and I were doing them together (second sense).  It was like laughing and sharing good times with a friend.

Then I thought of yet another use of with, which brings these ideas back to the rest of the Guiding Thought. With the flow: this with is different than either of the two I just described. With the flow, like with the current, implies there is a force at work that is moving, and taking everything in its path with it. Since Love is the substance of Life itself, Love is the flow, the current carrying us. When we do something with Love (in the with-a-friend sense), we are cooperating with the flow, which is Love itself.
