Guiding Thought

Love-as-light streams from your heart to my heart!

We are connected by Love; we are One in Love.

Imagine this stream of love-as-light connecting with everyone in time and space.

Imagine receiving this stream of love-as-light as it returns to you from everyone in time and space.

This is enough. We are One.

You’ve heard that giving is receiving, right? In the realm of things, this idea makes no sense. If I give you an apple, I’ve given it away; I haven’t received anything, right? But in the realm of ideas or energy, the idea that giving is receiving makes a little more sense. I’m now thinking back to Day 16, with my Agni Hotra experience of seeing my frame of mind reflected immediately with the fire.

There are always energy exchanges happening, and your energy always comes back to you as Karma, as the law of sowing and reaping. [How quickly the energy comes back to you is another matter, but that discussion must wait until another day.]

As I was drawing today, I noticed how it can be difficult to tell giving from receiving. When I was drawing, I meant for the angular lines to symbolize “Imagine this stream of love-as-light connecting with everyone in time and space”, and for the squiggly lines to symbolize “Imagine receiving this stream of love-as-light as it returns to you from everyone in time and space”.

The angular lines were supposed to represent giving, the rounder lines to represent receiving. But even as I was drawing them, I found myself feeling that both types of lines were both giving and receiving.

For someone just looking at the picture, without knowing my initial intention, either type of line could represent giving or receiving.

For me, today was an exercise in being in that understanding: giving is receiving.
