Guiding Thought

If we are to be our Self in the world, we must be for others as well as ourselves. There is no other.

We are willing to be receptive to the Infinite Love of All. We are willing to understand how we must rise above the struggles and pains of the world. We are willing to rise again and again with each call for help, each outstretched hand. We are willing to be the ones to choose to change. We offer our pain, suffering, guilt, and blame up for transformation, into the light of Love that we may see and give only the light of Love always.

Oh, it’s day 30. Thank God. How has your Journey been going so far? I’m going to hit my second wind here soon, but for today, I can just say “Thank God, it’s day 30”! Be well… and enjoy!

I’ve been working a lot with this idea “there is no other”, otherwise known as “Oneness”. It’s more than doing things for a win-win; it’s more than just being connected with others; it’s more than doing things for others or with others. Thinking in terms of Oneness, means truly thinking of others as me, as aspects of me. It is not easy for my little brain.

So I keep working with it.

As part of this, I think your struggles are my struggles; your pain is my pain. This is why I must rise above the struggles and pains of the world, because as I do it, your struggles and pain are lifted. This is why I must respond to the calls for help, the outstretched hands. They are but my own.

Now, sometimes this happens in the material world: sometimes this means being in a situation where I might feel anger or agitation, and I have to put those aside and choose to focus on Love and acceptance. Or sometimes it means offering assistance to someone, or even just being kind or gracious to people who are grumpy or cranky (because sometimes I am grumpy and cranky and I appreciate when others are kind and understanding to me).

But most of the time I work with these ideas metaphysically, through meditation and prayer, through things like the Guiding Thought. It’s said, “change your thoughts, change your experience”. As I’ve been changing my thoughts to Oneness, I do think my experience has been changing. But it’s weird–it’s not like anything in my life is changing (externally), it’s more that I can feel myself more calm and accepting, more open…and accepting. Things are just OK at a very deep level.

But more than that, I can feel my thoughts changing without a lot of effort. My brain doesn’t spin much anymore; my thoughts turn easily toward love; I don’t think negatively about that one situation I’ve mentioned here before. It’s like I’ve reached a point where the momentum of the effort has its own momentum. It’s like a playground merry-go-round–it takes a lot of effort to get the thing spinning, but once you get it going, you can just stand there and push it once every rotation to keep it going.

30 Merry go round

I just push my thoughts regularly in the right direction and they keep going even when I’m not paying attention.

Try working with Oneness more. allow yourself to include others conceptually as yourself. Help others as you would help yourself, because maybe it is.
