Journey of Beauty–Commitment and Dedication

Wow, I have so many emotions about beginning this Journey. They stem from a variety of factors, but primarily these two: 1) Since I am not confident about my ability to spot or create beauty, I feel a bit vulnerable going through this Journey publicly, for all to see my shortcomings and fumblings. 2) Since I have never done a Journey of Beauty before, I feel a bit inadequate–I am going to be figuring it out as I go along and I hope I do it sufficiently.

I have other associated emotions as well. 1) Excitement: Yes! I am genuinely excited about what I will discover about myself on this Journey. It’s uncharted territory, an adventure! 2) Curiosity: what am I capable of? What can I learn? What can I create? 3) Creativity: There are so many potential ways to experience beauty–through physical senses, or inner movements–I am looking forward to how I will approach and use these methods to experience beauty.

But today is for commitment and dedication. I had to get those emotions out, however, because they impact the “commitment”. Normally, I commit to reading the Guiding Thought, and writing about it, each for a minimum of 5 minutes. But there are no Guiding Thoughts for this Journey (yet…), so that commitment is out. This Journey requires a different commitment:

Commitment

For the next 40 days, I commit to:

  1. Looking for Beauty. This means looking for beauty within myself, within other people, as well as in the external world. What do I find beautiful? Where do I find beauty? What moves me? I commit to being aware of looking for beauty, as much of the day (for 40 days), as I possibly can. I commit to devoting my mental energy to being immersed in the seeking of beauty. And, I commit to writing about my seeking here, daily. This may include: purposefully looking at/listening to/tasting/touching/smelling things I know I find beautiful, or it may include looking around at my world and finding beauty. We’ll see.
  2. Intentionally creating something Beautiful, daily. This goes back to what I said above about feeling creative. How do create beauty? What are all the possible ways that I can create beauty in my life? To do this, here is what I am going to do: I am going to take a few minutes each morning and ask my Beautiful Self (higher-self, my creative self, my inner self whatever-you-like-to-call-that-quiet, knowing self within; for this Journey, it’s going to be “Beautiful Self”) what beauty It would like me to create. Then I will do my best to comply. Goodness. There was a pang of that inadequate feeling. If it’s a visual thing, I will try share it here; otherwise, I will write about the experience.
  3. Connecting with my Beautiful Self. This is really a part of both #1 and #2, but I think it deserves its own point. In addition to connecting every morning with my Beautiful Self, I am going to purposefully listen to that Self as much as possible throughout my days as I look for beauty, and write about what I experience.

Oh yes! Excited. Nervous. I really do hope you join me on this. It is going to be so much fun. We will learn so much (don’t we always?).

Dedication

I’ve been using the dedication from the last Journey almost daily, for all things. So… I am going to stick with that one for this Journey:

I dedicate all activity, energy, vibration, and movement of my physical body during each day of this Journey, during each meditation, each reflection, at all levels of consciousness to the Divine, for the benefit of all, including myself.

I dedicate all of the effects of the activity, energy, vibration, and movement of my physical body during each day of this Journey, during each meditation, each reflection, at all levels of consciousness to the Divine, for the benefit of all, including myself.

I dedicate all activity, energy, vibration, and movement of my mental body during each day of this Journey, during each meditation, each reflection, at all levels of consciousness to the Divine, for the benefit of all, including myself.

I dedicate all of the effects of the activity, energy, vibration, and movement of my mental body during each day of this Journey, during each meditation, each reflection, at all levels of consciousness to the Divine, for the benefit of all, including myself.

I dedicate all activity, energy, vibration, and movement of my emotional body during each day of this Journey, during each meditation, each reflection, at all levels of consciousness to the Divine, for the benefit of all, including myself.

I dedicate all of the effects of the activity, energy, vibration, and movement of my emotional body during each day of this Journey, during each meditation, each reflection, at all levels of consciousness to the Divine, for the benefit of all, including myself.

I dedicate all activity, energy, vibration, and movement of my etheric body during each day of this Journey, during each meditation, each reflection, at all levels of consciousness to the Divine, for the benefit of all, including myself.

I dedicate all of the effects of the activity, energy, vibration, and movement of my etheric body during each day of this Journey, during each meditation, each reflection, at all levels of consciousness to the Divine, for the benefit of all, including myself.
