Guiding Thought
Perfect Love, the Source and Truth of our Self, imbues us with the will to create with Love. We are able to create through our own free will, extending Perfect Love. Loving creation was given freely to us; therefore, we give freely of our own loving creation. We joyfully create through Perfect Love, with Perfect Love, as Perfect Love.
Reflection
A Course in Miracles repeats the theme there is only One Will throughout its text.
What does this means in practice? There is only One Will?
For the past two days, I’ve been intently focused on Oneness, and the Oneness of Love. Today, the Guiding Thought adds One Will to this exercise. It seems a very logical extension of Oneness, and of Perfect Love.
Let’s back up and refresh a moment:
If Love is everything, then I am Love.
If Love is everything, then only Love exists.
If only Love exists, there is only the Oneness of Love.
And now add One Will to this:
If there is only the Oneness of Love, how can there be two wills?
Why then do I think I have a will that is separate from the One Will? Why do I think my will is so different from God’s Will? Why do I think I need to align my will with the One Will? Why do I think I need to surrender to the One Will?
Because I am not the Source of myself.
Perfect Love is the Source which created Itself as me. As me, I have a free will, which can choose to recognize my Source as Perfect Love, or not.
When I choose to recognize Perfect Love as me, “my” will completely disappears. It’s not that I need to align or surrender that will; it’s just that when I recognize the Truth, then One Will is all that exists.
There are really two things going on here: 1) using my free will to create through Perfect Love, with Perfect Love, as Perfect Love. In this instance, I am still using “my” will, to extend who I am in Perfect Love. This is perfectly fine, and the appropriate use of free will with creation. 2) Knowing myself (and being) One, Perfect Love. In this instance, being “me” is being Perfect Love–the fullness of Oneness of Perfect Love. All Is Love, is ALL.
In the first, there remains a dualistic mind-set–“I and Thou” (with a tip of the hat to Martin Buber). Eventually even this must be healed into Oneness. In the second, the mind Knows itself fully as Oneness, and creates completely in the flow of that Oneness perpetuating Itself as Love.
I am working on both of these simultaneously. I figure if I can improve how effectively I use “my” will in conjunction with Divine Love, then I am at least showing intention toward working with Perfect Love. And besides…life just generally gets better when “I” create with Love. But, also, I can begin now to heal my own ideas about having a will that is unique, or separate from Perfect Love. Eventually, this healing will get a foothold, and I will snowball toward complete realization and understanding of Knowing myself (and “my” will), as Perfect Love’s Will of Oneness!
