Waiting for the Water to Recede –Journey of Courage 02.09.21

Guiding Thought

Life is a process of self-discovery. We embrace All of Life, for All of Life is who we Are. As we embrace Life as our Self, we come to understand Life as ourselves. Life embraces us gently and joyfully in return.

Contemplation / Reflection

My best friend lives on a river in the Midwest. The river has crested at its highest levels since she moved there. Her street and her entire yard are under water. Fortunately, her home is dry, an island. But she can’t go home until the water recedes. Her new mantra is “thank you for keeping my home dry, thank you for keeping my home dry”. When she sent out a request on social media for anyone who had a guest room available, she received offers from Colorado, Washington state, Texas and even the United Kingdom. This is an amazing statement about the oneness of us all. Open homes and open hearts. What a wonderful demonstration of Life embracing us gently and joyfully!

Chaos and Quiet –Journey of Courage 02.09.20

Guiding Thought

Be aware, allow, accept What is. Go within to your silent Self which Knows and follow your Inner wisdom to Truth. Practice Divine Balance in thought, word, and action. You are! You are your Self! You Are your Self of Love!

Contemplation / Reflection

Chaos and quiet. Went for a stroll through the local botanical garden on this sunny, spring-like afternoon. The garden is under the flight path of planes leaving the large international airport. They’re loud. Add to that a couple of trucks with loud mufflers and a motorcycle and you have noisy chaos. In only a minute, the vehicles and the plane are all long gone. I’m now standing on the edge of the pond in the Japanese garden section and all is peacefully quiet. I am aware. I allow the noise, what choice do I have?  And now I stand in the inner and outer stillness. I breathe deeply.  I am my Self aware of both chaos and quiet. And I love the balance of it! One of my favorite songs from years past was titled “Delicate Balance”.  A part of the lyrics: “it’s all such a delicate balance, as it turns through the circles of air. To live it is real, to love it is to feel that you’re a part of what everything is.” Delicate balance, divine balance, chaos and quiet…………

Sunshine on My Shoulders –Journey of Courage 02.09.19

Guiding Thought

Accept your light and my lightness! Feel your Self expand! As you perceive change around you, remain anchored in your Being of Light. Allow yourself to sit peacefully in the still place of nothingness as life moves quickly around you.

Contemplation / Reflection

Spring has rather suddenly arrived where I live. The sun has been shining, crocus and daffodils are beginning to bloom, the first of the cherry blossoms are peeking out. It’s easy to accept my light and lightness on days like this. But what about other days when it’s rainy or cold or windy? Or what about the change all around me. They say the only thing permanent is change. I watch the news and it doesn’t feel like “good” change. So, I sit by the window where the sun shines through and warms me. And I think “sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy”. I can have that thought even on cloudy days, and it warms me and I feel lighter.  Seems like I’ve been spending a lot of time “in the still place of nothingness” lately. Sometimes I feel guilty, like I “should” be doing something more productive. Then I think that being a little corner of peace and light in a fast-paced hectic world IS doing something. And I do my best to let that peace and light carry with me when I wander out into the world.

Symbolic Reminders of Love –Journey of Courage 02.09.18

Guiding Thought

Allow yourself to connect with your pure Inner Divine Heart of Oneness. Be aware of the expression of the Divine Heart through you, as you. Connect with your heart, and be aware of embodying its pure Love intention for All. Be filled with Joy as I embrace my heart’s Love.

Contemplation / Reflection

Ombre Purple MalaSometimes I wear a mala. Sometimes I wear a bracelet of meditation beads. Sometimes I carry an angel in my pocket. Actually, it’s a small coin-like object with the image of an angel on it. Rosewood With Amber Wrist MalaSometimes I give that angel away, knowing there are more of these symbols at home waiting for me to share them. Angels, or prayer beads, or crystals, or other symbols, they are simply that, symbols, not the “real thing”. Each such symbol stands to remind me of the expression of Divine Heart through me. While I hold these things as precious, in reality they are all basically triggering mechanisms.  They are there to remind me of my connection with my heart. Well, not just my heart, but a higher source of love, light and joy in my life. I am a massage therapist and these types of items help to remind me that, when I share massage with a client, it’s not ME, but “pure love intention” doing the massage. The massage or Reiki touch comes THROUGH me, not FROM me. In the vernacular of the “woo-woo” world, I suppose I might be considered a “channel” of healing touch. Yes, I did the homework, I studied the anatomy, took the exams, qualified for the license.  But, ultimately, I would contend that “it’s not ME”. It’s the joy and Love that any of us can connect with at any time and in any place. It’s magical  — and yet, it has the potential to be so mainstream. A “healer” doesn’t so much do healing, as they open the space for a person to tap into their own healing abilities. And when I’m in touch with that, I cannot help but be joyful and to wish that All of us would tap into that Divine Love and joy. What a blessed world it is, when we practice that connection!

Love and Teddy Bears –Journey of Courage 02.09.17

Guiding Thought

Love is strong! Powerful! Embrace Love and wield it through your awareness of Oneness. Oneness destroys the illusions of the mind, of the past, and of the material world. Move forward courageously with Peace in the Truth of Love and Oneness.

Contemplation / Reflection

Love is strong! Powerful! As I pondered this Guiding Thought, I just kept coming up with “I got nothin!” So my husband brought out my favorite teddy bear, suggesting I might find some inspiration there. I’ve had a special teddy bear for many years. Not always the same bear. I seem to have a habit of passing them on to others when I perceive they would benefit someone more than me. And I got to thinking about the role of teddy bears in my world. I once spent six weeks in a hospital. I was given a bear I named “Hugs”. Hugs was with me every minute of every day during one of the more challenging periods of my life. “Kisses” is a teddy bear that supported me through cancer treatments. Teddy bears will listen to any tears, frustrations, anger and fear, and never talk back, never judge, never contradict, never argue. .. Love is like that. No matter the challenges faced, love simply IS.  Hugs went to a new home when a friend needed a hug. Same with Peppermint. Kisses still hangs out with me. Yes, love is strong, but it can also be gentle and quietly supportive, like a teddy bear. I look around my home and see houseplants, paintings, photographs, trees, cards from friends. Everywhere I look, signs of love. Ever present, demanding nothing but to let it be. There’s great power in that!

Nap Time! –Journey of Courage 02.09.16

Guiding Thought

Be responsible! Be able to respond with and through conscious awareness of your inner-centered, silent knowingness. Practice Knowingness moment by moment. Anchored in your inner-harmony, have the courage to face your own thoughts and actions.

Contemplation / Reflection

I have a cold. I thought I was over it and then, BAM, back to coughing and sniffling today. Hmpf.  I find I need to be careful not to run an old number.  I used to always ask “what is it about me that attracted this bug? What’s WRONG with me?” After all, if I were perfectly connected to my inner Knowingness, I’d be too spiritually evolved to catch a simple cold – right?!  Wrong! That kind of self-talk is pure ego. If I ask a question about the cold these days, the question is more likely to be “what needs loving now?” Have to admit, it was easy to love taking a nap, like a cat, in the full sunshine coming through the living room window this afternoon! It’s also easy to be grateful that my schedule these days allows for me to take that nap without feeling guilty about other “important” things I “should” be doing. But, I’m still “facing my thoughts”, that I’d rather NOT have a cold. And then there are the actions – allopathic cold remedies? Naturopathic cold remedies? Energy healer remedies? Just watching how my mind juggles those options is enough sometimes to make me exhausted. The remedy? Rest and clear the mind! Think I’ll go take another nap!

Every One of Us –Journey of Courage 02.09.15

Guiding Thought

Be ready and willing, here and now, to be courageous. Release your mind’s idea of security, of “right” and of “wrong”. Allow your personality to dissolve and to become One with the Love that Is, everywhere. All false boundaries evaporate like mist in the sun as you devote yourself to the Oneness of Love.

Contemplation / Reflection

Be ready and willing, here and now, to be courageous – sometimes it feels like just getting out of bed each morning is courageous!  Despite making plans and having “to do” lists, one never really knows what opportunities for courage will present themselves on any given day. If I think about the potential threats in each day, I can be overwhelmed. It takes courage and trust to get on an airplane and travel in a silver bullet hurtling 500 miles an hour a mile or more above the Earth. It takes courage to cross the street, trusting in each driver to heed the speed limits and stop lights. It takes courage to eat a meal, given all we hear about what’s “good” to eat and what’s hazardous. Face it, being alive is a courageous act! Then I think about the fact that EVERY ONE OF US living on this planet today, or who has ever, or ever will live, is indeed, a courageous warrior. What is “security”? Thinking that we are fearful, timid, weak individuals, that is a big pile of “false boundaries”. We are courageous daughters and sons of an incomprehensible and beautiful creative source. How can we, how can I, not want to dance in the rain and sing in the sunshine that showers Lovingkindness on us all. How can I not bow in love and awe to every one of my sisters and brothers who, just like me, has the courage simply to BE here, to be alive, to laugh, to cry and to love on this precious blue planet?
