Guiding Thought
Love is strong! Powerful! I embrace Love and wield it through my awareness of Oneness. Oneness destroys the illusions of the mind, of the past, and of the material world. I move forward courageously with Peace in the Truth of Love and Oneness.
Contemplation / Reflection
I thought this Guiding Thought would be an easy one, but have found it to be quite the opposite. Thought about the many love songs out there over the years that speak of “love” and they all seem to miss the mark. Love is NOT something to be reserved for family, close friends or one special “beloved”. Perhaps Jesus said it best when he said, in the Sermon on the Mount: “for if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? Do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do you more than others? Do not even the publicans so?” REAL unconditional love is strong, it can also be very difficult. To hold myself away from the illusions of the mind, to make the space to love the politician whose ideals are so different from mine, the land developers who seem to think the only answer is more density in housing, more money for rents, more yachts and luxuries, more military might, THAT is powerful love. It’s not easy, but it IS essential to personal peace. I was once very involved in the “peace movement”, a struggle against nuclear power and war. Then, at a retreat weekend, a Buddhist Geshin said to me simply, “you cannot fight for peace, you must simply walk in peace”. For me that was one of life’s “aha moments”. No more struggle, give up the fight. To live a life of love I must move forward courageously with Peace. To walk in peace, in love for everyone and everything, I no longer seek to find or to be “the beloved”, I seek to be love.

Mary, your words are so powerful. Each time I read one of your posts, I feel small resonances throughout, like bells being struck once–one tone. And then another strike and another tone in the next sentence. Just beautiful.
