What is inner Beauty? How do we recognize it in others? How do we recognize it in ourselves? How do we cultivate inner beauty, especially when there are questions about what it is and how to recognize it?
Reflection / Contemplation
Developing one’s Consciousness is getting a lot of press these days. It is the evolutionary angle which catches my attention. There are many examples of how this has shown up in our human history, these big leaps of insight: spiritual/mystical, art/architecture, music, science/technology, thought, etc. How is it that labyrinths showed up in many ancient cultures around the same time and yet on different continents? The art of Hildegard of Bingen (11th century) has strikingly similarities to that of North American Native art of the same time period.
Collective Unconscious, Archetypes, the Hundredth Monkey (check out Rupert Sheldrake’s work on morphogenic fields), Quantum Fields are the various terms which are applied to this process. There is some process driving these developmental leaps of creative expression.
So what does inner Beauty have to do with all of this? My thoughts return again to this incarnation we occupy as humans, our physicality that is also mixed with our consciousness. We must find a way to express our consciousness in matter, because that is where we are at – NOW.
An image just came: my seasoning in this big vat of soup – consciousness. For the soup to taste good, you have to have the right mix of seasonings, the collective, the “we”. New soup indeed! I hope it is tasty.
