Allowing Sadness — 02.13.28

Guiding Thought

When we lift our vibration into Peace and Harmony, all are lifted with us. With this awareness comes great responsibility: we are Peace stewards of all humanity, of all Life. Eternal Peace is our natural state. Joyfully and easily we share It with all, and fulfill our Divine Purpose in the world.

A quote I ran into today from “Enlightened Consciousness” reads:

“You’re going to be fine, you always are.”

“Yes I will be. But please allow me a moment to express and display my sadness and discomfort. I know it will get better, but I need to also be honest and say my spirit is temporarily heavy and not have to hide that.”

My spirit is a little heavy this evening. I’ve been pen-pal with a person who underwent cancer surgery and treatment a couple of years ago. Originally, I was assigned to send her notes of encouragement while she underwent treatment. After her chemo and radiation treatments were completed, she “graduated” from the program that assigned me.  While my assignment was over, she and I agreed that we’d like to continue in a two-way snail mail friendship. Very recently tests show that her cancer has returned and she’s frightened. I’m a bit frightened for her. I can “joyfully and easily share my stewardship of all humanity” tomorrow. I can send her notes of encouragement, say prayers for her well-being, and do anything else I can think of to bolster her. Today though, or at least for the moment, I simply need to “GROK” her situation and this latest news. GROK, do you know that word? Comes from the science fiction classic Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein. To me it means to understand something at more than a surface level; to internalize it and give it time to “perk” through your own unique perspective. Sometimes, to grok is a necessary part of the process that is our stewardship, an essential element of our Divine Purpose.

Consciously Share Communion — 02.13.27

Guiding Thought

The Peace of God is stronger than our self-constructed obstacles to it. We open our mind to holy communion with the Divine. Brought to union with God, obstacles crumble. Peace stands victorious. We are that Peace.

Reflection

Today a very precious friend stopped by for coffee and a chat. As we were chatting, I realized that the connections I have with different people fulfill different aspects of my Self. There’s my life-long best friend who lives in a different state. We share so much history and are often making new memories by traveling together or reading books in common. Conversations with her are never interrupted by time and space. We just pick up right where we left off, no matter how long ago our last conversation or visit was. There’s a local friend with whom I share a passion for a particular hobby. We have a play date about once a month, fulfilling a desire for “girl time” and play. There is a friend in Hawaii that has been a kindred spirit for something approaching 50 years. We were once co-workers. We’ve been through birth and death together, in this life and probably in many other lifetimes as well. Sometimes he’ll stay with us for months. Sometimes we won’t see him for years at a time. Yet, every minute of every day, we KNOW we’re connected. There’s a cherished friend who was my “boss” well over 50 years ago in Wisconsin and somehow we both ended up in Washington State and we share huge love and respect for one another. But, back to that precious friend who stopped by for coffee today. We connect on a spirit/heart level in such a special way that I’m moved to tears of gratitude, love and joy just sitting across the table from her and taking a moment to reach inside to touch on what her friendship means to me. THIS is holy communion with the Divine. Each of these friendships, and many, many others, ARE holy communion, are union with God, are the manifestation of the Peace that WE are. Sometimes I try to imagine what life on this planet would be if WE could consciously share this communion, not just with those we perceive as our precious friends, but with ALL our brothers and sisters.  All I can say is…..

Imagine THAT!

Peace Be! #2: Always Preparing or Always Prepared? — 02.13.26

Guiding Thought

We prepare our mind for Peace. We prepare our mind to recognize that above all else, we want the Peace that passeth understanding. Today, we offer only this, in humility and gratitude to our Divine Self: we are willing to let the Peace of God be what it is, and accept ourselves as we are meant to be.

Reflection
Mary

How do we prepare our mind for Peace? Is it something we DO? Maybe I’m always preparing, or prepared, because I find Peace in odd ways sometimes. This morning, I woke with the rhythm of a call and response mantra from Kirtan running through my head. I don’t know the words exactly, but the melody is there, and the intent. It’s a gentle, peaceful call to engage with the day. Rubbing sleep out of my eyes, I head to the coffee maker. It sings a little ditty as it fills the room with the smell of freshly brewing coffee and fills my cup with what Steve refers to as my little cup of morning happiness. Hmmm, thanks to a dear friend, the song of the coffee maker just happens to be yet another mantra. “Ohm ah hum………” And so the day continues. The whistle of the hot water running through the shower sounds like a Tibetan singing bowl. All this Peace, and I’m not even dressed yet. And then a musical chord or the sequence of a couple words in my book or in a conversation triggers the words and melody of a song of praise from my church-going days. A whole hymnal of songs I cherish are harbored in my brain and my heart. THIS is letting the Peace of God be what it is, and what I’m meant to be, at least for today.

Peace Be! — 02.13.25

Guiding Thought

We are now aware of our complete harmony with All of Life. We choose to carry the harmony of Oneness with us in all areas of our life. Awareness of Oneness brings immediate peace to all our relationships and interactions. We choose Peace. We choose recognizing our Unity with All. We choose Oneness with All.

Reflection
Mary

Today was a bit of an unusual day. It seems somewhat rare that I get a stretch of several hours home alone. This was one of those days. I spent part of the morning reading. Later I moved on to working on a gift I’m making for a friend’s birthday coming soon.  At some point, Steve stopped in my study to let me know he had returned from a morning away. After he did that, I realized that “home alone” doesn’t matter like it used to. The Oneness Steve and I share makes it Peaceful if he’s here, and Peaceful if he’s not. We respect each others space, sometimes sharing background music that suits us both, sometimes sharing quiet, sometimes wearing headphones to allow listening to something one of us isn’t in the mood for. We choose Peace. When we leave home, together or alone, we continue to choose Peace. That Peace shows in our interactions with others, whether it’s friends we are getting together with, people we encounter at stores or parks, and especially friends at a distance, those we don’t see or speak with perhaps as often as we’d like, and yet the connection, the Oneness is there, is solid, is unwavering. We choose Peace.

Witness to Gratitude — 02.13.24

Guiding Thought

We are fulfilled! We are filled to the utmost capacity! We embody All that Is. We are beyond complete! We accept and receive the beautiful gift of Life, and Know the perfection of the Love we Are. In gratitude, we share this Love with All that is.

Reflection
Mary

I am filled beyond full with gratitude today. It’s my birthday – or my birthday week, or month. I have been showered with love from many, many directions today. It’s easy, on days like this, to more closely Know the perfection of the Love we Are.

There’s a link between our emotions and our health and gratitude is one of the healthiest of human emotions. I was at physical therapy yesterday and there were two others present. One was a woman who “needs” knee surgery, but is terrified and unwilling to make the commitment, to take the risk. Another had the same surgical procedure four months ago that I had four weeks ago. She believes healing is hard, painful and takes time. Her healing is at the same place after four months, that mine is after four weeks. My hope is that I presented myself to these people in a way that provided food for thought about “what’s possible” if they test the waters from a different perspective. Yesterday’s Guiding Thought included “our energy overflows to manifest only the Good, the Holy and the Beautiful”, and I’m so very filled with gratitude that I can personally witness this manifestation in my life, and to share it with others to the best of my ability.

Pssssst… — 02.13.23

Guiding Thought

In our natural state of Freedom, our mind knows only serene tranquility and Oneness with All. Nothing need be done, for there is no more to do. We are perfect, whole, and complete. Satisfied and filled full, our energy overflows to manifest only the Good, the Holy and the Beautiful.

Reflection
Mary

Somehow I have balked in each round when the Guiding Thought says “Nothing need be done”.  Obviously, you haven’t glimpsed my “to do” list for today. And yes, I generally have such a list each day. But I guess this Guiding Thought is not about that kind of doing-ness. If I accept the Thought, I also have to accept my perfection, and the perfection of the world around me – And that takes me back to “Desiderata”  (my favorite is the Les Crane version) which states that “no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.”  I have a tendency to think I’m not doing enough – Not volunteering enough, not keeping up with acknowledging others’ contributions to my life, not saying “thank you” or “thinking of you” enough, not reaching out enough. When I voice these feelings of inadequacy, Steve will point to the pony wall lined with cards I’ve recently received from others, or will highlight the stack of hand made holiday gifts I’m working on, or the small gifts I’ve mailed recently. He’ll say, simple, “it’s enough”. And I know that I am enough, because I do my best to scatter out the Good, the Holy and the Beautiful. And, darned if I’m not learning how a boomerang works! If we send out the love, the good, the beautiful, in perfect symmetry it comes back to us in an unending cycle of energy from which we can draw what we need, and pass it on.

Connected — 02.13.22

Guiding Thought

Knowing our Self as Peace fortifies our inner awareness of unity. Through gratitude for the Life we Are, we connect with harmony. Through harmony, we are restored and strengthened, and thus be able to carry our Inner Peace to all of Life’s activity surrounding us.

Reflection
Mary

Went to sleep last night thinking about I and me, you and they, we and us.  This round of the Journey is about embracing WE. Right now I am writing this response to the Guiding Thought. Steve is off to the store, Lita is moving boxes, Susan is making a quick trip to another state. And yet, WE are all connected in the harmony created by making this Journey of Peace together. There are likely other souls out there also on this Journey in a less public way. Steve will smile and chat with a cashier at the store. Lita will share a story with a family member or her walking partner about “who knows what” in one of the boxes. On her travels, Susan will likely chat with her partner about some aspect of this Journey. Like the ripples caused by dropping a pebble into a still pond, each of us will spread this Journey. WE will carry a glimpse of our Inner Peace, our Journey into the world surrounding us. And WE will thus spread the Journey of Peace throughout time and space. And so it is – in Peace and Harmony to all Life.
