Guiding Thought

I am now aware of my complete harmony with All of Life. I choose to carry the harmony of Oneness with me in all areas of my life. Awareness of Oneness brings immediate peace to all my relationships and interactions. I choose Peace. I choose recognizing Unity with All.  I choose Oneness with All.

Reflection
Steve

This is what we strive for, the “peace that passeth understanding”. It is a state of being, an awareness within us that All is one.  Knowing that I am included in the All.

I find myself struggling to be present for this reflection. I have started and paused many times attempting to focus on this guiding thought. I am hungry, I need to run upstairs, I want some music, my keyboard is dusty. Anything but recognizing that perhaps I don’t know what to say. Apparently, I am not choosing Peace at this moment.

I think what scares me is the concept that I Can choose Peace. I Can choose harmony, I Can choose Oneness with All. I have come from a place of I want this, but I don’t have it. I don’t deserve it. I don’t know how to control it. I did not know that I can CHOOSE it.

The declaration that I can choose Peace is powerful. It comes from my heart space. It is scary when I think about it (head space), the implications that I have choices, that it is up to me to make these choices.  For me, this is where grace comes into play. I did not create peace or harmony, these are from the All, God, the Creator, our supreme magician. All I need to do is to let go, and find that Peace and harmony that is already within. I am Oneness.

One of my favorite chant songs from Deva Premal and Miten is “Om Namo Bhagavate/Oneness”.

Women sing “Om Namo Bhagavate, Vasu De Vaya”. Men sing “Everywhere I go, I feel the Oneness Inside of me”.  I remember when I first heard it in concert, and when I sang with them, my heart opened so wide, I could feel it expand in my body, and tears fell from my eyes.

“Everywhere I go, I feel the Oneness inside of me”. I choose that. I choose Oneness.

OM Sahana Vavatu …. Om, May we all be protected
Sahanau Bhunaktu …. May we all be nourished
Saha Viryam Karavavahai ….May we work energetically together
Tejasvi Navaditamastu …. May our intellect be sharpened; may our study be effective
Ma Vidvishavahai …. Let there be no animosity amongst or between us
Om Shanti …. Om, peace within
    Shanti …. peace all around
Shant …. peace in divine forces

This was the first peace mantra I learned. It has a special place for me, but it is not a mantra I use or think of regularly.

I found myself praying with it this morning, unplanned. I chanted the mantra 9 times, each time changing/expanding the circles of influence. Each time, I added more people, more beings to the center of focus, and with the final Shanti, Shanti, Shanti, I “saw” every person/being experiencing peace within, peace without, and peace in divine forces. The circles expanded to countries, to politicians, to non-earth life forms, to all their relations, to all interactions between countries, governments, leaders, and simply everyone.

Choosing Peace can include choosing it FOR everyone. If we are One, then it is possible for me to choose for others what I choose for myself. Maybe this is the only way to choose for myself. Maybe this is “doing unto others as you would have them do unto you” or loving my neighbor as myself.

  2. Journey of Peace – Day 5 – Lita
I am now aware of my complete harmony with All of Life. I choose…
My reflection today is about words. I did a word count on today’s guiding thoughts. “All” appears three times, as does “Oneness”. “Choose”, however, appears four times, it seems in relation to awareness; this verb, a word of agency in consciousness.
I make choices all day long, both conscious and unconscious. This nondual state of harmony and oneness with all life, relationships, interactions, etc., is a reflection of my conscious choice to be present and to stay present. Here’s the rub…staying present.
Present here and now – not past, not future, not worry, not anxiety, not separation.
Present here and now – wholeness, oneness, connection, peace.

  3. Day 5 Mary
Had some hours of therapy to do today. Didn’t start out being in “complete harmony” with it. I found myself feeing a bit “out of sorts”, and wondering why. I began to ponder the body’s needs. Think I need some food, think I need some water, think I need some vitamins, think I need an attitude adjustment. After accommodating those “needs”, jumping into the therapy seemed a much more harmonious thing to do. If I choose to carry the harmony of Oneness in all areas of life, I need to be still and listen to what is disharmonious, and to bring it into harmony. Some days it seems the discordant IS the harmony – but not today. I choose a Peaceful harmony.
