Guiding Thought

Knowing the essence of All as your Self, you respect and revere All Life. Love your Self, love All Life. Bring this Love regularly, sincerely, and thankfully to all your activities and intentions. Know now the Peace inherent in Oneness. Know All as your Self. Know your Self as Love.

Ahem Prema. Ahem Prema. I am Divine Love. I am Divine Love.

I woke up late this morning, raced to dress and then meet my walking partner. My day has been like this for the last 6 hours. I have more than met my 10,000 steps. Every area of living space in our house is in chaos, with the exception of the kitchen and bathrooms.

We are in the midst of the grand reorganization (getting rid of boxes filled with who knows what, old furniture and beds) and with the intent that little or nothing goes into the landfill. We have multiple staging areas, or so it seems. The scene of chaos is an apt description of our living space. And who knows when it will clear. Soon, I hope.

Ahem Prema. Ahem Prema. I am Divine Love. I am Divine Love.

This mantra popped up for me in the midst of my driving this morning. I do not have to give over to the chaos of my routine and space.

My walking partner and I often repeat stories we tell each other.  I suspect they resurface in light of what is topical to our day. These replays often continue to offer another, deeper layer in our spiritual conversations. Periodically she shares her story of meeting with a Buddhist Lama following a presentation on meditation. She asked how she could ever find time to meditate. She had young children at the time. He told her that her parenting is a meditation. Washing dishes is a meditation. Cleaning house is a meditation.

The chaos in the house is my meditation today. Even the chaos deserves my respect and reverence: Ahem Prema. Ahem Prema. I am Divine Love. I am Divine Love.

“The Peace inherent in Oneness.” I’m learning this from this Journey.

What a gift it is to see/read/feel Mary, Steve, and Lita’s reflection. Each of them contributes to my awareness of my own feelings about my experience, and each helps me understand myself through the Guiding Thought in New ways.

Different voices, varied tones, add richness and depth to the song.

I can listen and feel the Oneness and the peace inherent in it.

  2. Day 20 Peace – Mary
Some days I Know All as my Self. I Know my Self as Love. I found in my files a letter I wrote to one of my most precious friends back in 1984. It was only in yesterday’s Guiding Thought that I was questioning the distinction between contentment (comfort), and happiness or peace. I concluded that, for me, LOVE is the purpose of our life on earth. I know it has been said that the only thing permanent in this worldly realm is change. But, here’s some consistency in my world, something unchanging since 1984, when I wrote:

“I’m sitting here wondering – at what price “success”, or “comfort”, or “national security”???…
“And I cling steadfastly to my belief in love. I cram as much of it as I can muster into each day (some days it’s a lot, some days it doesn’t seem like much, every day it’s not enough) – but it’s the only game in town. Whatever else I’m doing next week or next year, I can count on the fact that I’ll still be practicing to perfect my ability to love.
“It IS possible that this little spark of life in me – or the larger spark of life that is the planet – could be snuffed out any second of any day. I’m determined to be ready with a smile on my face, thankful that I have loved well.”

    Guiding Thought

Knowing the essence of All as your Self, you respect and revere All Life. Love your Self; Love All Life. Bring this Love regularly, sincerely, and thankfully to all your activities and interactions. Know now the Peace inherent in Oneness. Know All as your Self. Know your Self as Love.

This summarizes the messages of all the other guiding thoughts on this journey of Peace. Peace and Harmony within a life of Love is ours to choose. Good times, bad times, the choice is yours to choose peace, to share this with all who you come in contact with. The choice may be easier during the good times. The challenge is to choose Peace during the rough times, when you need it the most, and want it the least. Letting go of attachments, both material and mental; Letting go of being attached to results. Always you have a choice. Love yourself. You deserve Love at all times, regardless of the circumstances of your Life. Rich or poor, you deserve Love. Love yourself regardless of the situations you are in. Be thankful for this human life you have been given. It will be gone all too soon.

Love your Self and Peace will be yours. Love All Life, and the world will rejoice.
