Peace Be! — 02.13.25

Guiding Thought

We are now aware of our complete harmony with All of Life. We choose to carry the harmony of Oneness with us in all areas of our life. Awareness of Oneness brings immediate peace to all our relationships and interactions. We choose Peace. We choose recognizing our Unity with All. We choose Oneness with All.

Reflection
Mary

Today was a bit of an unusual day. It seems somewhat rare that I get a stretch of several hours home alone. This was one of those days. I spent part of the morning reading. Later I moved on to working on a gift I’m making for a friend’s birthday coming soon.  At some point, Steve stopped in my study to let me know he had returned from a morning away. After he did that, I realized that “home alone” doesn’t matter like it used to. The Oneness Steve and I share makes it Peaceful if he’s here, and Peaceful if he’s not. We respect each others space, sometimes sharing background music that suits us both, sometimes sharing quiet, sometimes wearing headphones to allow listening to something one of us isn’t in the mood for. We choose Peace. When we leave home, together or alone, we continue to choose Peace. That Peace shows in our interactions with others, whether it’s friends we are getting together with, people we encounter at stores or parks, and especially friends at a distance, those we don’t see or speak with perhaps as often as we’d like, and yet the connection, the Oneness is there, is solid, is unwavering. We choose Peace.

Today’s guiding thoughts are all about alignment for me, about getting to and staying in alignment with Oneness and choosing Peace. In truth, I woke up with this on my mind, knowing that I would be writing about this today and decided to take the role of observer, not judger, about my shifting states of consciousness for today. I am combining intention and attention today.
My choice to be at Peace and in Oneness with All, depends upon the many filters which comprise my reality: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. There is a rotation, it seems, for each component to come to the forefront of my awareness and inform for good or otherwise what kind of response will emerge, not unlike circles bumping into each other or merging. That is how it is I/we interact with our world.
For today, I am choosing Peace. I am limiting my exposure to what I call stations of static and chaos. I have the time and space to do so, to play with awareness. It is not this way every day, but I will claim this for today. I will savor and anchor it in my being so that on the days when my schedule is more harried, I will have a map or doorway or a light on the hill telling me that this is the Way…to Oneness and Peace. This repetition, much like a mantra, I know will carry over into my relationships and interactions.

Journey of Peace day 25 Reflection – Steve

I raked leaves again today, cold and sunny outside. Like laundry, raking leaves can seem endless, or it can be very satisfying, to be outside, to breathe and feel the fresh crisp air. When I focus on the leaves, and the beauty around me, I am at peace. My neighbor is also outside raking leaves. We are peaceful together.

I don’t always feel at peace, but knowing the experience allows me to check in within, and find deep abiding contentment with how things are. (Even my painting project which is going horribly is not upsetting). Our neighbors are raking too, or mowing, or working on their cars. I look within, and I feel at one with them, in the midst of the 10,000 things we all must do. That’s just our block. I think of the neighbors raking on the next block, and the next. We are all together raking.

This sense of Oneness, in something as simple as raking leaved, reminds me to bring this harmony with us wherever we go, with whoever we shall meet. It is always available, if we simply choose it.

    Reflection

This whole Journey so far, I’ve been waffling between reflecting on the Guiding Thought, or reflecting on Steve, Mary, or Lita’s reflection on the Guiding Thought. So far, until today, I have only reflected on the Guiding Thought, even though I have been inspired with and through their writings.

But just now, I realized: It’s all the same. We are One. The process is the process, the Journey is the Journey. WE are on the Journey. What is moving one is moving All. Any thought I have is the movement of One, is the movement of ALL. So whether I contemplate the Guiding Thought or a reflection, I am still moving through. It seems today is a reflection on Mary’s writing, through a practical application of the Guiding Thought.

When I read Mary’s reflection for today, I thought, “my relationship is very similar to this. We have much the same type of coming-and-going, private space, music in the background, headphones as necessary…”

    But then I realized:

I do not always BE Peace, even though I THINK I BE Peace.
    Whoa.
In other words, {I realized) I’ve been fooling myself; I’ve been unaware; I’ve been looking to the external structures (shared space/using headphones, etc) to BRING peace, rather than me being the one to bring Peace, and having those external components being the result/vehicle for the Peace that I AM.

I could see/feel Mary BEing the Peace, and when I “compared” that to myself and my situation, I could see/feel a difference–and I “fell short” (no judgement on myself, just awareness). I was able to become aware of myself in a new way by experiencing Mary’s situation through her words.
