Heavenly Synchronicity: Journey of Purpose – 03.02.01

Today, begins the action of commitment. For the next 40 days, Steve and I will be reading/listening to the Guiding Thoughts and reflecting (words as well as creative expressions) on them. What is your commitment?

Guiding Thought

There is a Perfect Spiritual Idea of Perfect Fulfillment. My Inner Divine Presence Knows every form, experience, situation, event, circumstance, condition, relationship, and sequence that fulfills my desires. When I am diligent about maintaining my focus of desire on the loving benefit and fulfillment of all sentient beings, Divine Substance–which is the source of Spiritual Idea’s manifestation–flows through me and externalizes in my experience. Divine Presence appears as the perfect fulfillment of every single form, experience, situation, event, circumstance, condition, relationship, and sequence that I could possibly desire.

The Guiding Thoughts audio for this Journey will be found here.

Reflections

Synchronicity. Go with the Flow. When I focus more on others, troubles have a way of vanishing, of working out. Mary and I had a slightly testy exchange this morning, it doesn’t matter what it was. She joked, and said she wanted to get into a fight, so we could make up. Rather than buying into making remarks that would only escalate the meaningless exchange, I simply said, let’s skip the fight, and go straight to making up.

I can attribute the pleasing outcome to looking inside, and touching or connecting with that Divine Substance. I felt compassion for us both, and realized that defending or justifying my remarks, at her expense (and mine, too), simply wasn’t worth the trouble. Letting go brought us back to Peace.

I am thankful for that moment of awareness. It saved us both from unnecessary hurt feelings. It’s surprising how easily our little egos can get offended. Thank goodness for connecting  with my Inner Divine Presence!

I consider myself a “very serious person”…but I’ve been coaching myself out of that. Now, I embrace my inner goofball…

I just love today’s Guiding Thought. It coincides nicely with another “affirmation” I have been saying to myself: “I am the invincible, unconquerable Presence. I am the open door for It’s Infinite Intelligence to govern my outer world in wondrous perfection.”

Life is wondrous perfection, when we align with the Divine. There is a perfect Spiritual idea of Perfect Fulfillment. Divine Mind is only Perfection, and provides us only perfection. If life ain’t perfect, ’tis we who need to change.

Day one, commitment to write: check, done.

Commitment and Dedication, Journey of Purpose – 03.02.0

Welcome to Journey of Purpose! Today, the second preliminary day, we “get serious” with our commitment. Now is the time to think about what you are willing and able to do, in order to fulfill your Why. Then commit to it. Today in the dedication, we also offer our efforts to something greater than ourselves.

Journey of Purpose – Commitment and Dedication

Commitment
My commitment to this Journey of Purpose is much like my commitment to prior journeys, to participate fully, and joyfully!
I will dedicate time each day to contemplate the guiding thoughts for the day, and to express in writing, drawing painting, etc. my feelings, thoughts, and responses to the guiding thoughts. I commit to posting these responses on a timely basis. I will renegotiate any commitments that I am unable to keep.
This commitment is to me, to Susan our host, to any others on this journey, and to the Divine Spirit within us all.

Dedication
I dedicate this Journey of Purpose to all who seek meaning in their lives. I dedicate my efforts to all those on their paths, may they find purpose in their journeys. I dedicate all merit from this process to the benefit of all sentient beings, including those who are homeless, sick or hungry.

SusanWithPearls

Commitment

For my commitment, I am going to do something new. Normally, after Journey of the Heart, during which I have painted/drawn/colored “my heart out”, I leave the paints and colors, and return to my first love, words.

For this Journey, I remain committed to words, yet, I will also maintain my heart energy by continuing to paint.

What I post here will be primarily the paintings, but I also commit to writing daily, even if those writings are not posted. Adrienne Rich said, “writing is revision”. So, I will include in my writing for this Journey both new writings, and re-visioning previous writings, for the ultimate goal of publishing the Journey Books.

To this end, I commit to listening to (or reading) the Guiding Thoughts for a minimum of 5 minutes each day, and painting/coloring while doing so. I also commit to writing for a minimum of 60 minutes each day for the Books.

Dedication

I dedicate my thoughts, words, actions and all their effects to my/your/our Highest Being, with deepest gratitude that I may serve the One/All.

Why? (Steve) Journey of Purpose – 03.02.00

Welcome to Journey of Purpose! Today, we begin with Why? The first day is always a reflection about what this Journey is about for you. Why do you care about purpose? What does it mean to you? What do you hope to learn? What would you like to gain? What would you like to release? Below are Steve’s reflections on Why;  See mine here:

Bent Halo

Steve (Meet Steve here.)

Why? Why am I committing to participating in this Journey of Purpose?

In some respects, I have no idea what my purpose in life is. I worked for a living from the time I was a young teenager, until 2 years ago, when I “retired” at age 63. (I don’t like that word. I prefer to think of it as an opportunity to “restructure”).  While I was working for a living, that was purpose enough. Now, my time is less structured, and I have more time for walks, reading, doing some volunteer work. Exploring my spirituality, and how does that show up in my life. The question comes up, “what is my purpose in life?” I have no ready answer for that.

I hesitated committing to this Journey of Purpose. I’ve just  participated in two other Journeys, and felt ready for a break. And I worried for a time about what happens if I go on this journey, and don’t find my higher Purpose?

I came to realize that I wanted to do this journey of purpose. Not to “find” my purpose, but to explore the concept of Purpose, what does it even mean? My purpose changes moment by moment, to be awake, and available to live in life, to respond to whatever is needed in the moment, whether It’s washing dishes, cooking a great meal, helping a young person with their reading lessons. What do I call these purposes?

I am doing this journey to have Fun! I enjoy the process, and the commitment to the journey. I find there is purpose enough in the process of living, and taking on a journey of exploration. I want to have fun on the journey, and not get bogged down in seriousness. I want to give myself a break, and not buy into my self-critic’s judgments. I want to have fun with this exploration.  That’s why I am committing to this Journey of Purpose.

Why? (Susan) Journey of Purpose – 03.02.00

Welcome to Journey of Purpose! As always, I will be here for the next 41 days, sharing my Journey. Also for this Journey, Steve will be Guest Journeying–he will be sharing his thoughts and reflections daily, also. Meet Steve here. If you are so inclined to be a Guest Journeyer, it’s not too late! Just email me susan@withpearls.com. It’s helpful to others to see how you may approach and process the Journey, to see the variety of reflections. By sharing here, you are helping others.

Today, we begin with Why? The first day is always a reflection about what this Journey is about for you. Why do you care about purpose? What does it mean to you? What do you hope to learn? What would you like to gain? What would you like to release? Below are my reflections on Why; Steve’s will follow shortly:

Journey of Purpose was the very first Journey I ever created. I was at a good place in my life; there was nothing “wrong”, yet I didn’t feel like I understood my higher purpose. “How do I figure that out?” I asked myself. “How do I always figure such things out?” “I ask!” I responded to myself. “I seek (and find) my answers”. That’s how Journey of Purpose was born. Every day for 40 days, I asked the question of my Higher Self: what is my highest purpose? What I discovered on that first Journey was that doing the Journeys was my higher purpose. Since then, I’ve completed a total of three Journeys of Purpose; this is my fourth one since 2013.

The point of this scenario is that this is a really good example of why these Journeys are called Journeys. Even though I “found” one answer to my question, “what is my Purpose?”, I kept asking the question over the next 7 years, and I keep getting new answers. There is never one answer. Each time the question is asked, I am new and different, never the same person. Therefore, the answer I get is never the same. The more you ask, the more closely you hone the answer…but on this Journey of connecting with your Higher Self, there is no destination…or if there is, it’s way too far ahead for you to even imagine it!

Since I have done this several times, and have honed my Purpose more than someone just beginning, my Why is very clear and very specific:

I am doing Journey of Purpose to be my Highest Purpose, which is…doing the Journey.

I know…this sounds like I’m talking in circles, so let me explain. My purpose is the Journeys. I have been working on getting the Journeys out as books for several years. But, it has not yet happened and that is the next step for the Journeys. It now must happen.

Each day, my Journey is going to be working on the Journey books.

Yes, I will listen to/contemplate the Guiding Thoughts (more on this tomorrow in my commitment), but the writing that will happen will be (mostly) private, as it will be writing the books.

Final Reflection, Susan. Journey of the Heart – 03.01.41

Susan

When I began Journey of the Heart, I intended to open my heart in order to heal humanity. This stemmed from a mourning for humanity, and how far we have fallen into violence (that even Disney Movies now have violence as core plots).

Then, the Journey began, and I felt like my heart literally split open, broke open. It was a physical feeling, like someone punched me in the chest. The feeling did not go away for the entire Journey, and in the breaking open, there was release and renewal. It’s hard to explain, but it was like I was able to feel and experience new levels/layers of suffering in order to heal them. This was not just “for me” but for all of humanity, so I see this as a correspondence with my intention. (“you get what you ask for”)

With all of this going on energetically in my chest, I think that my head and my emotions were not up to thinking and feeling on a conscious level. Too much was going on energetically that I was unable to process much of anything mentally or emotionally.

The way I addressed this while drawing/painting was to find a way to paint so that I did not have to think or feel. I repeated a water color technique which produced very sweet little flowers. All I had to do was follow the technique, while listening to the Guiding Thought for the day. I found it relaxing and stimulating.

With this technique, I also gained confidence in my ability to produce or create something specific, intentionally. This is an unusual approach for me. I usually let my art come spontaneously, and just “see what comes out”. So, to intend to paint for a specific result was new. During the Journey, I likened this to the microcosm of learning to Create (capitial C) in the macro. That is: intentionally co-creating with my Divine Self.

This was an intense Journey for me, on many levels–especially that whole energetic thing with my heart breaking open. And, by the end, I was eager and excited to move forward with Journey of Purpose. Journey of the Heart helped me to really clarify how I want to approach Journey of Purpose.

And you’ll read about that a little later today!

Love to all. I am thankful for you being here, doing the work of becoming aware of and living from and through your Higher, Divine Self. See you again soon…

Journey of Purpose begins later today.

Susan (commentary)

After 40 days of drawing/writing/painting and connecting with the Heart, there are two final steps. 1) Relax, celebrate, and let yourself assimilate the (joyful) work of the past 40 days. 2) Reflect on the past 40 days and write a bit about how you feel now. Did you accomplish what you set out to accomplish (re-read your Why)? Did the Journey have unexpected twists and turns? How has your relationship with your heart changed? What about your relationship with other people? What have you learned? To what do you now aspire? These are just some questions to get you started…there are no “rules” to what your Journey means for you, or how you reflect upon it.

Between Feb 19 and Feb 22, you’ll find the reflections of the four Journeyers. Today is Lita:

Lita

Reflection

I began this journey with low energy and awareness of a rather tight and unexplored place – the back of my heart. What a pilgrimage this has been. I say pilgrimage because it was such a physical and tactile meditation, this Journey of the Heart. This pilgrimage of daily art is much like a walking journey, forcing emotions and memories to the surface with each and every step or stroke of my hand. In some circles this is considered to be an “extroverted” meditation, this art expression the journey asked of me and other participants. We all took sacred steps indeed.

I end this journey with more energy and a new sense of heart space. The back of my heart is no longer a place where dryness and neglect are the descriptions of the landscape. I truly feel the openness of space here, where energy can move and find expression. More important, I have appreciation for the timing of this journey which reminded me that I have access to play and creativity. It has been surprisingly restorative.

Metaphorically speaking, I am grateful for the opportunity to have done some of the necessary cleaning and pruning this heart space required. And I am grateful for having done it with a group. You all (those of us posting as well as those who have done it privately) have been much like a work party who show up for a good yard clearing. We are all making space for Love.

The day will come when, after harnessing space, the winds, the tides and gravitation, we shall harness for God the energies of Love. And on that day, for the second time in the history of the world, we shall have discovered Fire.”  Teilhard de Chardin

Reflection

There was so much Heart in this journey! There seemed to be a magic, working through all of us, as we created separately, yet together, our individual expressions of love, from our hearts.

It reminds me that although we all walk our own paths, we all have the same destination. We are one.

This kept resonating with me throughout the journey, We are One.

We are walking each other home.

I started this journey wanting more Peace and love in my life. As I reflected on each guiding thought, I often had a struggle to come up with something. That’s just being honest. I think it was a struggle twixt heart and mind.  When an idea came to me, I often found that the drawing, painting, or picture was enough. I did not need to add any analysis from my mind.

I appreciate the non-verbal aspects of this journey. Words can be limiting (they can also be evocative). It seems like drawing or painting can tap into our inner selves, and express broader aspects of who we are, what we are feeling and experiencing.  They can help to open our hearts.

What did I learn from this journey?

We are One. (And sometimes I can actually experience that). I learned to trust my heart more, and to appreciate the support from everyone on this journey, including many who don’t even know they were on this journey.  I learned to trust my creative abilities more, and especially to appreciate the creativity expressed by others.  I learned that love flows between us all.  Thank you, you are all amazing!

A poem, by Ikkyu:

Many Paths, single moon

Many paths lead from
The foot of the mountain,
But at the peak
We all gaze at the single bright moon.
