Susan (commentary)
After 40 days of drawing/writing/painting and connecting with the Heart, there are two final steps. 1) Relax, celebrate, and let yourself assimilate the (joyful) work of the past 40 days. 2) Reflect on the past 40 days and write a bit about how you feel now. Did you accomplish what you set out to accomplish (re-read your Why)? Did the Journey have unexpected twists and turns? How has your relationship with your heart changed? What about your relationship with other people? What have you learned? To what do you now aspire? These are just some questions to get you started…there are no “rules” to what your Journey means for you, or how you reflect upon it.
Between Feb 19 and Feb 22, you’ll find the reflections of the four Journeyers. Today is Lita:
Reflection
I began this journey with low energy and awareness of a rather tight and unexplored place – the back of my heart. What a pilgrimage this has been. I say pilgrimage because it was such a physical and tactile meditation, this Journey of the Heart. This pilgrimage of daily art is much like a walking journey, forcing emotions and memories to the surface with each and every step or stroke of my hand. In some circles this is considered to be an “extroverted” meditation, this art expression the journey asked of me and other participants. We all took sacred steps indeed.
I end this journey with more energy and a new sense of heart space. The back of my heart is no longer a place where dryness and neglect are the descriptions of the landscape. I truly feel the openness of space here, where energy can move and find expression. More important, I have appreciation for the timing of this journey which reminded me that I have access to play and creativity. It has been surprisingly restorative.
Metaphorically speaking, I am grateful for the opportunity to have done some of the necessary cleaning and pruning this heart space required. And I am grateful for having done it with a group. You all (those of us posting as well as those who have done it privately) have been much like a work party who show up for a good yard clearing. We are all making space for Love.
The day will come when, after harnessing space, the winds, the tides and gravitation, we shall harness for God the energies of Love. And on that day, for the second time in the history of the world, we shall have discovered Fire.” Teilhard de Chardin
