Guiding Thought
My Purpose is to awaken to the Truth within me and share it. The Truth within me-My Inner Divine Mind-flows constantly and purely. As I go deeper in my awareness, the current of this flow broadens, strengthens, and brightens. It fills me and pours forth. This is my Source, the Source of all my good, all my happiness, and all my abundance. I awaken to My Inner Divine Mind and invite it to express Itself as every person and event that will increase my awareness of it.

Reflections
Steve (Meet Steve here.)
Reflection
I looked back on the guiding thought for day 5, from 30 days ago. My reflection included “Two hours ago I heard about the first coronavirus death in the US. Here in our hometown area. And another 50 people at a local life care center are being quarantined.” And now 30 days later we have over 2000 deaths in the USA attributed to COVID-19. We are in statewide mandatory “shelter in place”, and many other states have also ordered this.
This backdrop does not change the guiding thought, or the recognition of the Truth within me. The constant pure flow of Divine Mind is not dependent on outer circumstances. It could not be otherwise; else it would shrivel up like a well gone dry. My Source is always there, strengthening, brightening.
It seems fitting to include my completed Guardian Angel painting today. May our Guardian Angels continue to watch over us.
As I was sitting down today to paint along with the Guiding Thought, I thought to myself, “I am going to take refuge in my flowers”.
The use of the word “refuge” caught my attention, as it felt a bit out of place. I am more accustomed to the use of fefuge in the Buddha Dharma; there is a prayer called the refuge prayer. It goes like this:
To the excellent Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha,
I go for refuge until enlightenment.
Here is one meaning of this prayer:
I have found deliverance and hope due to the one who demonstrated the possibility of awakening – the Buddha;
I enjoy immeasurable wealth, basking in the sunlight that dispels all darkness – the teachings (Dharma) on the nature of reality;
I receive strength and shelter from the lineage (Sangha) of heroes and heroines, the Buddhists before me and around me, the ones who sustained the teachings, the ones who will never abandon sentient beings.
When I went for refuge to my flowers, here is what I felt:
I find comfort and nurturing in my painting.
I find joy in the pleasure painting happy flowers brings me.
I receive strength from the calming familiar presence of these flowers.
Where do you find refuge? Can you find it right in front of you?
If you are curious here’s my writing from The very first Journey of Purpose, six years ago Day 35.
Public Service Message regarding CoVid 19:
How to triage your symptoms. Please use the flow chart below to determine whether or not you should go to the hospital.
Remember: One of the big concerns right now is the potential for overwhelming hospitals and emergency personnel. There is no treatment for mild cases. Severe cases require hospitalization, with respirators. You can determine for yourself what your symptoms are, and reduce the potential overwhelm in hospitals and at doctors’ offices. Please share; in working together, we can help the people with most severe cases get the necessary treatment.

Susan, I really liked your taking refuge in your flowers. I got the sense of safety and comfort in taking refuge, and your comments brought that home for me. Thanks!
