Identity. Take it or Leave it. 03.05.01

Over the next 40 days, your mission is to read the provided Guiding Thoughts, reflecting on the words, the feeling, the meaning, for a minimum of 5 minutes, and then to write a response, or reflection, for a minimum of 5 minutes (or whatever you committed to).

Guiding Thought

Divine Love-Light is the Source of All. It is all good, all God. This Source is always seeking expression through me. My awareness of my personal identity as this Source provides me with infinite fulfillment and prosperity.

Reflection

“Identity”. I find it a bit ironic that the very first Guiding Thought of this Journey asks me to identify as something. I’ve spent a lot of my adult life throwing off labels, and definitions of who “I am”. Labels are so restrictive. If I claim a label, doesn’t it follow me? Once I state something as an identity, can I change my mind?

I know a guy whose whole identity revolves around [for example] being a social scientist. He converses as a social scientist. He memory works like a social scientist’s. He organizes like a social scientist. He analyzes behaviors and establishes relationships as a  social scientist. Everything he does, he sees and acts from his identity as a social scientist. And he’s not silent about it–he’s the one who says things like, “I don’t remember that conversation. I’m a social scientist; I remember data, not ideas”.

I just don’t understand being so invested in an identity. Especially an identity that can change with simply learning something new about myself, or growing and developing as a person.

Yet, the thing about identifying as the Source of All, is that since it’s ALL, containing everything, then that identity inherently contains everything. Anything I want to be, I am, when I identify as the expression of the Source of All.

I guess that solves my identity dilemma. When I accept myself as everything, then anything I express is the identity I have claimed!

Here is the Guiding Thought for tomorrow:

I choose to expand my consciousness and open my heart to Divine Love’s flow within me. Realizing my own Divine Presence, I know God as the Source and Fulfillment of all my good.
