Ahhhhhhh! Peace! — 02.13.34

Guiding Thought

I am fulfilled! I am filled to the utmost capacity! I embody All that is. I am beyond complete! I accept and receive the beautiful gift of Life and Know the perfection of the Love I Am. In gratitude I share this Love with All that is.

Reflection
Steve

I have arrived. The Journey is the path. The journey is the destination. I have been seeking the goal in front of me, somewhere down that endless path. Now I know the destination is here within me. I have nowhere to go. I am complete in the here and now.  At sunrise I give thanks for a new day. At sunset, I give thanks for a day well lived. It is with gratitude that I lay me down to sleep, knowing I am filled with love for All.

I am a reflection of the sun rising in the sky. It lights my soul, and I am well-lit from within. In gratitude I share this Light with All. This light is Love.

SHE DAWN

The SheDawn awakes

Beauty incarnate,

joy abounding in each breath.

None else are so beautiful as she.

She sees with the sky,

and hears with the breeze.

The Way to Peace is Through the Stomach — 02.13.33

Guiding Thought

In my natural state of Freedom, my mind knows only serene tranquility and Oneness with All. Nothing need be done, for there is no more to do. I am perfect, whole, and complete. Satisfied and filled full, my energy overflows to manifest only the Good, the Holy, and the Beautiful.

Reflection
Steve

I may ramble a bit on this one.

When I began this journey, one of my intentions was to be open to, and explore the question of what is peace. My mission is to reflect on the Guiding Thought of the day, to notice what comes up, how I feel, what I think, and to respond in some fashion.  And I wonder, do I respond as though to an audience, or am I writing simply for myself, to help me find clarity in my thoughts and experiences. Ultimately, I have to answer to myself, for that is the only way I can be true in my sharing with others.

Often what comes up for me are songs or art, where the lyrics or art seem to jive with the topic. I enjoy sharing music/art, and wonder what impacts they may have on others. I will never know, but it is satisfying to think perhaps a seed has been planted, that what I write or share may have some impact in someone else’s life.

I notice this Guiding Thought doesn’t mention peace. It mentions Freedom, knowing tranquility, and (hot button) knowing that nothing needs be done, there is nothing more to do. To me, that is tranquility, a quietness of Spirit that can abide in my heart even during the busiest of times. For me, that is a definition of Peace.

In another vein, they say the way to a man’s heart (or woman’s) is through his/her stomach. And the way to Peace is in our hearts. So that implies having a good meal is a way to Peace. I wonder if that includes pizza? A good pizza can be holy and beautiful can’t it? (Dinner tonight is actually a veggie/cheese tray, and hearty homemade chicken soup, made with love).

All we are saying is give Peace a chance.

We Go to the Ocean — 02.13.32

Guiding Thought

Knowing myself as Peace fortifies my inner awareness of the unity within. Through gratitude for the Life I Am, I connect with harmony. Through harmony, I am restored and strengthened, and am thus able to carry my Inner Peace to all of life’s activity surrounding me.

Reflection
Steve

Walking in circles. Usually my daily walk involves walking multiple times around a quarter mile path at a local park. It is good for me, both physically and mentally. I will recite my mantram, sometimes I will (thanks to Thich Nhat Hanh), chant Peace, Joy, Peace, Joy, in rhythm of my steps. It Is all good. And I have to admit, in spite of the pretty scenery, and my mantrams, I find myself ready to be done after about 4-5 laps. Physically I could go much farther. I often do 6 to 8 laps or more when walking with someone, our discussions keep us going.

I also walk with a friend at another park, on the beach. It is not a circle, we wander up and down the beach, we wander through the driftwood and the seaweed, we gaze out upon the water, and we see birds and islands across the sound. Today we saw a blue heron, standing one legged on a rock protruding above the water.

The sights and sounds at the beach bring me to peace and harmony. Or maybe it is because we pause, and take notice of the beauty around us. What I know is I find Peace here at the beach more readily than walking in circles at the other park. I don’t understand why that is, but I know that is my experience. There is value in knowing what triggers my awareness of harmony and Peace. Perhaps I “should” be able to find Peace and Harmony anywhere, anytime. The truth is, I will take any help I can get. So if walking on the beach allows me to be strengthened and restored, so “beach” it!

We are blessed to have this wonderful beach park in our neighborhood. And we are going to stay at the ocean for a few days next week; it is only a few hours’ drive from home. Going to the ocean brings me to a state of wholeness, and harmony with the natural world. Looking out at the ocean, I know that our world is okay. We go to the ocean to rebalance our energy.

“Ocean Mother, wash over me, help me sustain  my life”, “to rebalance my energy, so I can live together with all things” partial lyrics from “Deep Within” by Alicia Bonnet on her Emergence album.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCEuyYtQGj0. Truly beautiful.

Everyday Opportunities — 02.13.31

Welcome to Round Four!

Here we are, on the final stretch. Are you feeling “plodding” or “dashing”? The perception of time can change during the Journeys. Sometimes they fly by, sometimes it feels like walking in mud. Just keep the forward progress, and you always come out the other side…with “new and improved!” insights and Ah-ha-s.

Thank you for being here. Do you know how you bless the world for simply (or sometimes not so simply) doing the inner work of Self? When you shed light within, the light grows without. YOU do this; you ARE doing this. The world is blessed because of your actions. Thank you. We are all on the Upward Spiral of Ascension, each taking their own steps to evolve individual and human consciousness to align with and express Divine Consciousness.

Divine Consciousness is Infinite and Eternal, never ending. And what a joy it is! I am so grateful for you to be here, adding your light on the path.

For Round Four, the Guiding Thoughts shift once again, this time back to the “I”. We began in Round One with “I”, claiming that self-identity. Then, through rounds two and three, the self-identity became expanded through “you” and “we” so that the self could begin to understand itself as the SELF. In returning to “I” in the fourth round, the (little) self merges with the (higher) Self, to achieve more consistency and congruency in everyday life, as the Self becomes more prominent in everyday activities.

Also for this round, Steve. returns as our Guest Journeyer.  Lita and Mary’s beautiful reflections will continue in the comments section, so if you have been enjoying their writings, please follow up and read those.

And as a reminder: this is not “my” Journey, not Lita’s Journey, not Steve or Mary’s Journey. This is our Journey– all of us, together. Feel free to add your reflections with us in the comments section.

Guiding Thought

I am Love. I have infinite Love to give; therefore, I am able to give Love infinitely. Filled with Love, my energy is vibrant. All of Life responds to my inner State of Being with mutual harmony.

Reflection
Steve

Wow. Day 31, the start of Round 4, the final round for this Journey of Peace. Which officially started October 4th, but seemed to start much sooner, as I completed a bio of myself, a statement of Intentions, and a statement of Commitment and Dedication. Has it been worth it? Absolutely. I have learned so much, not only about myself, but also about Peace, and how it manifests (or not) in our lives. There are so many ways to look at Peace, and the Guiding Thoughts have helped me to see many aspects of what peace is in our lives, what it looks like to me, how it feels, what it means to me.

Ekam Sat – One truth, many paths. Thank you to Sus for that (Sanskrit?) phrase. That is part of the beauty of the 40 Guiding Thoughts, each one evokes a different perspective, new questions arise, and my experience today is different from yesterday.

I am traveling on a path of peace, with you, me and we. Today it is not the same experience I had yesterday, or the day before, or on day 1. Every day I have opportunities to give love infinitely. I may fall short, but the intentions and results are worthwhile. I aspire to be in Infinite Love, and to share that love however I can.

Many Blessings.

Zigging and Zagging — 02.13.30

Guiding Thought

Knowing the essence of All as our Self, we respect and revere All Life. We love our Self; we love All Life. We bring this Love regularly, sincerely, and thankfully to all our activities and interactions. We now Know the Peace inherent in Oneness. We Know All as our Self. We Know our Self as Love.

Reflection
Mary

We bring Love to all our activities and interactions. I wonder, have you been in a “big box” furniture store lately?  They’re acres and acres of stuff on display. We went to look at options for a new couch today. After describing what I thought I wanted, the nice sales rep walked us through this enormous maze in search of a particular sofa. They apparently had only ONE sofa out of this entire maze that fit my criteria. We turned left, we turned right, we zigged and we zagged.  He slowed his pace a bit after I explained I’d had recent surgery on my knee and couldn’t keep up. And we zigged and zagged some more. He shook his head and said he’d been away from work for a couple days and that they’d moved some things around. When he finally found what he was looking for, we had traversed the entire multi-acre store, and we ended up about 10 yards from where we started at the store’s entrance! It wasn’t the sofa we were looking for and I found myself wanting to be somewhat angry and frustrated, because of the unnecessary trek throughout the store. As we walked back to our car, I couldn’t help but laugh. At least I’d gotten some extra walking in today – gotta LOVE that. As we begin to know our Self as Love, we practice seeing the silver lining in the dark clouds, we begin the practice of finding ways to Love what might otherwise be frustrating experiences

How (or What) We Learn — 02.13.29

Guiding Thought

The purpose of Life for all beings is to experience happiness, peace, contentment, and safety, Knowing the Oneness and Immortality of the Divine Self. Such Knowledge is beyond speech, beyond thought; It is found in the depths of the heart where communion (co-union) with All is reality. We now bring the unifying force within our hearts to all people and experiences and thus Know ourselves as the happiness, peace, contentment, and safety we Are.

Reflection
Mary

The Dalai Lama recently said:

“How we view human nature can mean the difference between living in a world filled with people who are perceived as hostile, violent and dangerous, or as essentially kind, helpful and gentle. A deep awareness of the essential goodness of human beings can give us courage and hope.”

It’s difficult sometimes to see beyond the daily news; it can be almost impossible to avoid it and the “spin” seems to almost always be in favor of the sensational – the violent and hostile. And yet, the world I EXPERIENCE on a day-to-day basis, MY reality, seems to have little in common with what the news portrays. Yes, I see the impacts of poverty and drugs and homelessness right here in my own community. More importantly, I see individuals, community agencies and governmental programs all dedicated to helping provide happiness, peace, contentment and safety. I choose to view human nature as kindness, as all of us wanting these same things.  We’ve just learned through different families and cultures different ways to achieve these goals.  South Pacific is a classic musical movie, one that’s not aired these days probably because of political incorrectness (e.g. a song titled “There is Nothing Like a Dame”).  And yet, there’s a very meaningful song as well, “You’ve Got to Be Taught”. (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VPf6ITsjsgk) We’re not born to dislike one another – part of the lyrics “you’ve got to be taught to be afraid of people whose eyes are oddly made and people who’s skin is a different shade.” If you watch young people play, you’ll likely see it’s NOT human nature to be hostile and violent. It’s human nature to be kind, helpful, gentle and loving. If we teach our children and grandchildren well (or let them teach us) perhaps future generations will more readily bring the unifying force within our hearts to all people.

Allowing Sadness — 02.13.28

Guiding Thought

When we lift our vibration into Peace and Harmony, all are lifted with us. With this awareness comes great responsibility: we are Peace stewards of all humanity, of all Life. Eternal Peace is our natural state. Joyfully and easily we share It with all, and fulfill our Divine Purpose in the world.

Reflection
Mary

A quote I ran into today from “Enlightened Consciousness” reads:

“You’re going to be fine, you always are.”

“Yes I will be. But please allow me a moment to express and display my sadness and discomfort. I know it will get better, but I need to also be honest and say my spirit is temporarily heavy and not have to hide that.”

My spirit is a little heavy this evening. I’ve been pen-pal with a person who underwent cancer surgery and treatment a couple of years ago. Originally, I was assigned to send her notes of encouragement while she underwent treatment. After her chemo and radiation treatments were completed, she “graduated” from the program that assigned me.  While my assignment was over, she and I agreed that we’d like to continue in a two-way snail mail friendship. Very recently tests show that her cancer has returned and she’s frightened. I’m a bit frightened for her. I can “joyfully and easily share my stewardship of all humanity” tomorrow. I can send her notes of encouragement, say prayers for her well-being, and do anything else I can think of to bolster her. Today though, or at least for the moment, I simply need to “GROK” her situation and this latest news. GROK, do you know that word? Comes from the science fiction classic Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein. To me it means to understand something at more than a surface level; to internalize it and give it time to “perk” through your own unique perspective. Sometimes, to grok is a necessary part of the process that is our stewardship, an essential element of our Divine Purpose.

Consciously Share Communion — 02.13.27

Guiding Thought

The Peace of God is stronger than our self-constructed obstacles to it. We open our mind to holy communion with the Divine. Brought to union with God, obstacles crumble. Peace stands victorious. We are that Peace.

Reflection
Mary

Today a very precious friend stopped by for coffee and a chat. As we were chatting, I realized that the connections I have with different people fulfill different aspects of my Self. There’s my life-long best friend who lives in a different state. We share so much history and are often making new memories by traveling together or reading books in common. Conversations with her are never interrupted by time and space. We just pick up right where we left off, no matter how long ago our last conversation or visit was. There’s a local friend with whom I share a passion for a particular hobby. We have a play date about once a month, fulfilling a desire for “girl time” and play. There is a friend in Hawaii that has been a kindred spirit for something approaching 50 years. We were once co-workers. We’ve been through birth and death together, in this life and probably in many other lifetimes as well. Sometimes he’ll stay with us for months. Sometimes we won’t see him for years at a time. Yet, every minute of every day, we KNOW we’re connected. There’s a cherished friend who was my “boss” well over 50 years ago in Wisconsin and somehow we both ended up in Washington State and we share huge love and respect for one another. But, back to that precious friend who stopped by for coffee today. We connect on a spirit/heart level in such a special way that I’m moved to tears of gratitude, love and joy just sitting across the table from her and taking a moment to reach inside to touch on what her friendship means to me. THIS is holy communion with the Divine. Each of these friendships, and many, many others, ARE holy communion, are union with God, are the manifestation of the Peace that WE are. Sometimes I try to imagine what life on this planet would be if WE could consciously share this communion, not just with those we perceive as our precious friends, but with ALL our brothers and sisters.  All I can say is…..

Imagine THAT!

Peace Be! #2: Always Preparing or Always Prepared? — 02.13.26

Guiding Thought

We prepare our mind for Peace. We prepare our mind to recognize that above all else, we want the Peace that passeth understanding. Today, we offer only this, in humility and gratitude to our Divine Self: we are willing to let the Peace of God be what it is, and accept ourselves as we are meant to be.

Reflection
Mary

How do we prepare our mind for Peace? Is it something we DO? Maybe I’m always preparing, or prepared, because I find Peace in odd ways sometimes. This morning, I woke with the rhythm of a call and response mantra from Kirtan running through my head. I don’t know the words exactly, but the melody is there, and the intent. It’s a gentle, peaceful call to engage with the day. Rubbing sleep out of my eyes, I head to the coffee maker. It sings a little ditty as it fills the room with the smell of freshly brewing coffee and fills my cup with what Steve refers to as my little cup of morning happiness. Hmmm, thanks to a dear friend, the song of the coffee maker just happens to be yet another mantra. “Ohm ah hum………” And so the day continues. The whistle of the hot water running through the shower sounds like a Tibetan singing bowl. All this Peace, and I’m not even dressed yet. And then a musical chord or the sequence of a couple words in my book or in a conversation triggers the words and melody of a song of praise from my church-going days. A whole hymnal of songs I cherish are harbored in my brain and my heart. THIS is letting the Peace of God be what it is, and what I’m meant to be, at least for today.

Peace Be! — 02.13.25

Guiding Thought

We are now aware of our complete harmony with All of Life. We choose to carry the harmony of Oneness with us in all areas of our life. Awareness of Oneness brings immediate peace to all our relationships and interactions. We choose Peace. We choose recognizing our Unity with All. We choose Oneness with All.

Reflection
Mary

Today was a bit of an unusual day. It seems somewhat rare that I get a stretch of several hours home alone. This was one of those days. I spent part of the morning reading. Later I moved on to working on a gift I’m making for a friend’s birthday coming soon.  At some point, Steve stopped in my study to let me know he had returned from a morning away. After he did that, I realized that “home alone” doesn’t matter like it used to. The Oneness Steve and I share makes it Peaceful if he’s here, and Peaceful if he’s not. We respect each others space, sometimes sharing background music that suits us both, sometimes sharing quiet, sometimes wearing headphones to allow listening to something one of us isn’t in the mood for. We choose Peace. When we leave home, together or alone, we continue to choose Peace. That Peace shows in our interactions with others, whether it’s friends we are getting together with, people we encounter at stores or parks, and especially friends at a distance, those we don’t see or speak with perhaps as often as we’d like, and yet the connection, the Oneness is there, is solid, is unwavering. We choose Peace.
