“I look within and uproot anything that is imperfect.”
This statement is the theme for this Journey of Fulfillment. I’ve been noticing things in my life, let’s call them personality defects, that I am dissatisfied with about myself. I won’t go into details, but let’s say they have to do with criticism, judgment, and lack of acceptance within myself. Then, there are also some practical habits that I want to change, particularly how I currently lack organization in some areas of my life and my space.
Simply put, there are things about myself that I want to change. It’s not that I find these habits or characteristics problematic, but I can do better. I can be better. And that is what I want.
I figure, there is not perfect fulfillment where there are imperfections. And so since I’m going for 100% Filled Full, I need to correct these little things in my personality traits and in my habits.
In addition to the uprooting, I’m going to reach, and stretch myself a little bit more on this journey. I’ve been thinking about this concept of 100% for a while now. And I really want to reach more into that. I want 100% fulfillment, 100% alignment with Divine Will, 100% Harmony within my body mind and Spirit. I want that 100% with my Divine self.
So these are my two goals, uprooting the imperfections while reaching for greater perfection. Let’s do this.
I am light. My body is light. I am free. I know my fulfillment: I feel it rise within me, expand out from me.
Do you know this feeling? Have you felt your light-body? Have you felt it rise within you, and expand out from you? Did you feel it as you were contemplating the Guiding Thought?
Can you see yourself living a higher existence? Look around yourself now. Imagine yourself, your environment, your home, your yard, everything in your awareness right now, existing in light, in a higher state of being. Don’t work too hard at it. Thinking it is enough, imagining it the best you can. You can’t do it wrong. Your intention and attention take you there, whether you “see” something or not.
Imagine how often you smile in this state. Imagine the peace you feel. Imagine the good will you have toward everyone you meet, every animal, everything.
Why worry? All is as it should be. All is well.
This exists. Go there frequently, daily, several times a day.
Soon it will come to you, and you will find yourself in the line at the grocery store smiling, looking around with love and good will, and you will know.
This is as it should be, because this is what is, this is what you are. And you will be in the world, yet not of it.
Love to you. Thank you for being here on this journey of journeys.

Our Purpose is to awaken to the Truth within and share it. The Truth within – our Inner Divine Mind – flows constantly and purely. As we go deeper in our awareness, the current of this broadens, strengthens, and brightens. It fills us and pours forth. This is our Source; the Source of all good, all happiness, and all abundance. We awaken to our Inner Divine Mind and invite It to express Itself as every person and event that will increase our awareness of It.
Inner Divine Mind wants to experience Itself.
It can only do that through us.
It can only do that through us to the extent that we align our consciousness with It, thus becoming aware of It as us.
This sentence really simplified things for me: Our Purpose is to awaken to the Truth within and share it.
Lately, as I have been thinking about purpose, I have recognized a thought/feeling that my purpose is somewhere else. In other words, it’s anywhere but here. Somehow, in this thought/feeling, my purpose is never what I am doing right now.
And now I am thinking about how relevant yesterday’s post was to this. It’s only now that I can experience the Holy Instant, and if I am never thinking about now as a Holy Instant, I never experience it. Awakening is only now. My purpose now is to awaken.
I believe that what the Guiding Thought is telling us, is that once we give one instant to our purpose, awakening to the Truth within (or as A Course in Miracles would say, to the Holy Instant), then we actually, fully experience our alignment with Divine Mind.
In that instant, since we are fully experiencing Divine Mind, and we are experiencing ourselves, then whatever this self, this body is perceiving/experiencing in the world is being perceived/experienced through the Divine Mind, which is beyond senses and perception. This is how perception is transcended. This is how Oneness is known, beyond perception. This is how separation and difference is eliminated.
But, also, as I noted yesterday, the reason all this is a journey: it takes far longer for us to decide to give a mere instant to the Peace of Heaven than for the Peace of Heaven to enter our consciousness.
It’s every now that we must give to awakening, give to our Purpose, give to Divine Mind and the Peace of Heaven.
We are responsible! We are able to respond with and through conscious awareness of our inner-centered, silent knowingness, moment by moment. Anchored in the inner harmony, we face our own thoughts and actions with courage.
Why do I need courage to face my own thoughts and actions, especially if I am anchored in inner harmony?
Ahh. I see it now. It has to do with responsibility. (duh!).
Responsibility itself takes courage. There is a part of A Course in Miracles that talks about how poorly we have been taught (because of where we have placed our faith and reliance), and how poorly we have thus created. Creating poorly means creating from fear, from separation–which means that as we create situations out of fear and separation, we experience fear and separation. We must unlearn how we have taught ourselves, and shift our faith and reliance from ourselves to the Holy Spirit, so that we create from Love and Oneness.
This is a learning process. It’s not like we can just wake up one day and say, “OK, I’m going to create 100% from Love today”. (Maybe some people can do this, but so far, not me, and believe me, I’ve been working on it.) And then, even when we begin to create from Love, there are still effects from past fear-creations that may come up in our experience. So, the process is two-fold: Create NOW from Love; transmute effects of the past through Love. I suppose in a way, these are both the same thing, because NOW is the only operative time-frame.
What this asks us to do, though, is to be responsible for everything we encounter, whether it’s the effect of a past mistake, or a pure-in-the-moment creation. We must respond to everything with and through conscious awareness, and Love.
Dealing with past mis-creations in the moment especially requires attention and strength–be vigilant! It’s like pouring water through a pipe that is all gunked up on the inside. The more pressure you use, the faster the gunk washes away. The more frequently you respond with Love, the more you will be creating from Love. The faster and more frequently you can respond with Love–especially in a situation that is fear-based–the faster and more frequently you will experience the effects of your Love.
However, if you try to wash the gunk away using just a trickle, it will not move out and through the pipe very fast. If you spend 5% of your time thinking Loving thoughts, creating from Love, the return will be only 5%. If you continually respond to fear-based situations with fear, your trickle has turned to a drip.
I know, I know, I get it. Responding to fear with Love is one of the hardest things to be aware of, and to accomplish. When someone is accusing you of something that you didn’t do…when someone is hostile toward you…when, from nowhere, someone flings a psychic attack of guilt or not-good-enough or unworthy…FIRST you must get to the point where you can recognize the falsehood: You are an amazing beautiful being, fully Loved, fully worthy, innocent of ALL transgressions, no matter what “they” say. You are worthy and deserving of every good thing, all beauty, all abundance, and all kindness. Don’t let anyone ever tell you or try to convince you otherwise–Reject their falsehoods! Let no one tell you lies about yourself!
When you can recognize your worth, your beauty, and your strength, in the face of someone else’s hostility, you have become conscious of your anchor of inner harmony. Hold that space. Stand strong in that space. If that is all you can do, when faced with hostility, it’s enough. Don’t give in to fear; keep fear at bay. That’s enough.
But keep getting stronger. Keep working. Because as you do, you will not just stand, you will speak and act with Love and compassion, even in the face of fear, hostility, or attacks.
That is courage…and how responsibility leads to it.
Our hearts pay attention to each other; we listen to each other’s inner voice, the unspoken words.
We care, and we attend with love to each other’s deeper, silent needs, asking each other’s heart, “How may I strengthen you and raise your energy?”

“The basic nature of sentient beings is the capacity for enlightenment…
To understand that all sentient beings possess the foundation for becoming enlightened, you need analytical wisdom. First, you need to understand that all your problems stem from your mind’s mistaken view of yourself, of other people, and of all things existing in and of themselves. When you see that this is a mistake, you realize that you can become enlightened, after which you can extend this realization to all sentient beings…this lays the groundwork for developing a desire to help everyone toward enlightenment…
With it, you can engender a strong aspiration to help others by achieving your own enlightenment.”
His Holiness the Dalai Lama,
translated by Jeffrey Hopkins, Ph.D.
Do you see that we are doing this right now? We are, “engendering a strong aspiration to help others by achieving our own enlightenment.” This Journey, this day, this moment, we are doing it. Let’s look at the quote from the Dalai Lama in the context of the Journey:
First, we need analytical wisdom (thank God!). What does that do for us? We use analytical wisdom to look at our thoughts, to observe our minds, and to discern how we are thinking and then decide if that is how we want to be thinking.
This quote from the Dalai Lama is (of course) from a Buddhist perspective. But analytical wisdom can apply to any framework; analytical wisdom is about being aware of how you think, in order to choose how you want to think.
Many people know how they want to think (and most people think they already are thinking how they want to think). People (in general…I know this is a wide assumption, but bear with me) want to be righteous, upstanding, good parents, good partners, good people. Someone once said to me, “People don’t do things because they think it’s wrong. People do things because they think it’s right.” And I think that is correct, for the most part. People do things because they think what they are doing is right.
Yet, this “right thinking” can cause a lot of pain, struggle, effort, stress for the person and for others. Why? “All your problems stem from your mind’s mistaken view of yourself, of other people, and of all things existing in and of themselves.”
What the Dalai Lama is saying here is that the underlying thoughts about what it means to be “right” are really wrong (“mistaken”). So, when a person is doing what they think is right, there is a good chance they are really thinking or acting from a mistaken viewpoint.
The mistaken viewpoint, according to the Dalai Lama is, “people and things exist in and of themselves.” In A Course in Miracles, this would be called Separation. In Buddha Dharma, the “correct” way of thinking is Dependent Arising: all things and people are dependent upon all things and people; in A Course in Miracles the corrective is Atonement: At-One-Ment.
This is why we need to begin with analytical wisdom. Where do our thoughts originate? In a framework that includes others, or excludes them? In a thought process that sees others as separate from ourselves, or as equal with ourselves?
Every sentient being has the capacity for enlightenment. These Journeys are designed from this foundation. Their contemplative nature provokes your analytical wisdom and asks you to think about what you think, and what you want to think. This is one reason there can be disruptive thoughts during the Journey; your mind is vying with itself over its dominant thoughts. The Journeys give you thoughts of Oneness, of Love, of Peace, if you choose to accept them and replaces thoughts of separation or disharmony with them. The rounds are designed to bring you to a place of inclusion, so you learn to have thoughts that consider others naturally.
Our hearts pay attention to each other; we listen to each other’s inner voice, the unspoken words. We care, and we attend with love to each other’s deeper, silent needs, asking each other’s heart, “How may I strengthen you and raise your energy?”
Do you want to become enlightened? Do you believe it’s possible?
And I sincerely want to help strengthen and raise your energy. I have a strong desire to help you to enlightenment. That’s why I’m here.
